Monthly Meetings

BAMA holds monthly dinner meetings where members have the opportunity to network and exchange ideas and information on a one-to-one basis. At each meeting, BAMA also presents a speaker, panel discussion, or other more formal presentation on a wide variety of pertinent topics. These are presented by experts in their field who are also available to answer questions from individual members. Check the “Monthly Info” section for details.

Seminars

During the year BAMA holds seminars or workshops on a variety of timely topics… in-depth presentations by experts, featuring an agenda designed to provide detailed information on the subject. The BAMA-EC (Environmental Committee) has breakfast meetings for those members with concerns about environmental issues.

Plant Tours

There is a large concentration of manufacturers in the Tampa Bay area… more than most people realize. At various times during the year, BAMA members are invited to tour other manufacturing facilities in the area. These informative, guided tours allow members to become better acquainted with the resources available from other local manufacturers, see what technologies or processes are in place and working for them, and give members a better sense of the local manufacturing community.

  • Dedicated to supporting the development and growth of manufacturing in the Tampa Bay Area (Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas).
  • Provides network opportunities where members and others can exchange ideas and information. The BAMA monthly dinner meeting is held the third Thursday of each month, except July and December.
  • Offers expert speaker presentations and/or panel discussions at the monthly dinner meetings.
  • Offers seminars and workshops on a variety of topics at discounted rates.
  • Free Member Supported Help Line covering a variety of topics.
  • Free monthly BAMA Newsletter with informative articles on topics relevant to your business.
  • Offers plant and facility tours of local manufacturing establishments.
  • Provides complimentary listing of your company’s products and services, along with all contact information – including a link to your company’s web site.
  • Provides both up-to-date and archived information and articles in one location – on the BAMA web site.
  • Scheduled social outings with colleagues, such as golf tournaments, baseball games, and holiday parties.
  • Offers scholarship programs, which are funded through the annual BAMA Golf Tournament. Scholarships are for continuing education of current manufacturing employees, as well as local technical students to promote excellence and achievement in vocational training.
  • Provides access to professional service providers to help your manufacturing company increase sales, decrease costs and improve customer service.

Job Description: Manufacturing Engineer

This position will work within the Seal Dynamics’ New Product Development Group performing various tasks associated with engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing and vendor management in the development of aircraft components. The aircraft components are being developed for the commercial airline aftermarket and they are manufactured in locations throughout the US and internationally.

This position reports to the Director of Engineering and has strong growth potential within the engineering organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To assure that our suppliers consistently provide quality products on time, making sure manufacturing processes and quality procedures are in place and are followed.
  • Lead the team in resolving supplier manufacturing and quality related issues
  • Assist and educate suppliers to understand the requirements of Seal Dynamics and the FAA
  • Create and implement inspection criteria and procedures in conformance to QS9000/ISO9002 standards to include Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities and conduct supplier audits for manufacturing processes and quality control
  • Act as liaison between vendors and SD’s Quality Assurance and Engineering departments in the production and vendor inspection of parts.
  • Maintain suppliers’ manufacturing process travelers once approved by SD’s Engineering and Quality Assurance
  • Support New Product Development activities as needed

 Requirements for Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Material Sciences, Manufacturing or equivalent experience in relevant manufacturing and materials and processing experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing processes for metallic and non metallic aerospace materials including, coatings, processes and finishes
  • Detailed understanding of drawings including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances
  • Proficient in the use of inspection gauges and test equipment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A high attention to detail with a strong work ethic
  • Must be proficient in handling multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
