JOB TITLE: Plating & Waste Water Coordinator

LOCATION: St. Petersburg, FL

PAY RATE: $15.40 - 21.12 per hour (DOE)

WORK HOURS: Monday-Friday 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM



Perform chemical analysis and maintain plating chemistries for all plating processes. Operate and control the waste water treatment process. Operate and control plating and finishing processes and equipment. Maintain sufficient inventory of all related chemicals, and other necessary supplies. Assist the Plating and Waste Water Supervisor . Petersburg facility. Assist in operation of plating lines and equipment as needed.



  • Provide technical and operational support to plating and finishing department.
  • Monitor and ensure that plating requirements are met per engineering specifications.
  • Perform the in-house chemical analysis for all processes. Make the necessary chemical additions based on analysis results. Ensure makeup of chemical baths are correct and determine additions or changes.
  • Operate the wastewater treatment process as defined by the department work instructions. Maintain necessary records of activities associated with the wastewater treatment and plating process.
  • Handle and prepare for shipment all controlled waste as required by procedures and regulatory standards (EPA, FDEP, DOT).
  • Perform chemical management and environmental/hazardous waste compliance reporting.
  • Maintain sufficient inventories of all waste water, plating, finishing and lab related chemicals.
  • Maintain safe operating procedures as it applies to areas of operation.
  • Oversee the day to day work and allocate task to team members in Plating Finishing and Waste Water. Scheduling and prioritizing work as needed.
  • Assist Department Supervisor in day to day decision making, feedback and problem solving.
  • Assist in instruction, training and leading of plating and waste water operators.
  • Assist in maintenance of plating, waste water and other department equipment as needed.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of all equipment, tools, and plating bath chemistries. Including management and oversight of required testing and process verification to comply with specifications.
  • Preform Plating and Waste Water PMs to plan and develop /implement new PMs.
  • Maintain and improve workplace organization for areas of operation including chemical storage/waste area.
  • Work with department supervisor to continuously improve the plating and waste water process.
  • Improve quality and consistency of plating. Troubleshoot and resolve issues to reduce plating rework and scrap. Implement process controls to ensure continuity of product supply to specifications at all times.
  • Point of contact person for all department improvement projects, vendors, and chemical suppliers.
  • Identify areas for improvement in Plating/Waste water performance and coordinate changes with Department Supervisor and Technical Support.

Position Requirements


Required:            High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Preferred:           Associate Degree



Required:           -1-2 years of manufacturing experience in plating and or waste water.

Preferred:          -3-5 years of manufacturing experience in plating and waste water.

                        -Hazardous Waste Operator course (RCRA/DOT)

                        -Thorough understanding of the chemistry and technology of plating.

                        -Strong hands on skills working with electrochemistry processes and equipment.

                        -Industrial Powered Truck Operation Certification.

                        -Personal Protective Equipment Training

                        -Process Waste Handler Training

                        -Emergency Response Training (Hazardous Materials & Used Oil)

                        -Treatment of Metal Waste course.

                        -Hazard Communication Training (Right to Know)



Required:          -Excellent communication and problem solving skills

                        -Proven problem solving abilities and leadership record of accomplishment.

-Excellent organization skills and record keeping; able to manage multiple assignments effectively.
