The Experts

KEVIN JOHNSON


Kevin Johnson is a founding shareholder of Johnson Jackson PLLC, a Tampa law firm specializing in management-side labor and employment law. Kevin graduated from the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law in 1994. He has been Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Labor and Employment Law since 2007. Kevin has been named to the SuperLawyers list of the Top 100 lawyers in Florida eleven times since 2012.

Kevin is a past chair of The Florida Bar’s Civil Procedure Rules Committee, its Standing Committee on Technology, its Solo and Small Firm Section, and its Council of Sections. He currently serves on the The Florida Bar’s Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence. Kevin is also a past President of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

Kevin has litigated cases in courts throughout the United States. He enjoys helping employers work through challenging circumstances to make good decisions about their employees and their employment practices.


GARY SCHIK


Gary Schick was named SVP and Chief Human Resources Officer at Jabil in October 2023. In this role, he leads an HR organization of more than 1,100 employees across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Gary has more than 26 years of experience in Human Resources and Labor Relations.

Gary joined Jabil in August 2018 as a Sr. Director, Human Resources, serving as the HR Business Partner for Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain. He was promoted to Vice President, HR Operations in June 2021. In 2022, he assumed leadership responsibilities as Vice President of HR for the EMS Business segment with overall HR accountability for U.S., LATAM, and Europe Operations.

Prior to joining Jabil, Gary held HR leadership roles at Alcoa, Honeywell, and Gerdau. As the Vice President of Human Resources for Gerdau Long Steel North America (GLN), Gary led the HR strategy for the Mills, Downstream, and Metallics operations in North America. In addition, he served as the labor relations lead and chief labor negotiator for all GLN.

He holds his BA degree in Economics from Northwestern University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.


BERNIE CURRIE


Bernie is a seasoned HR professional and military advocate; Bernie is dedicated to restoring authenticity and humanity in workplaces through genuine conversations. Dual certified SHRM and HRCI, Bernie’s career spans various industries, including healthcare and information technology and was recently awarded the Tampa Bay Business and Wealth Magazine’s Chief Human Resource Award winner for 2024. Currently, Bernie serves as President-elect for SHRM’s Suncoast HR Chapter and is Chair of the Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve in Hillsborough/Pinellas and Pasco counties. As an Air Force veteran with two combat veteran sons, Bernie is known for his ongoing support of our military population, has been instrumental in the creation of SHRM’s Veterans at Work and Military at Work programs and serves as a SHRM Veteran Ambassador.  He enjoys traveling, staying relevant to the issues facing each of us by having those difficult social conversations and is supported by his bride of over 35 years, along with his three children and five grandchildren.


ERIN JACKSON


Erin Jackson is a founding shareholder of Johnson Jackson in Tampa, a boutique law firm specializing in management-side labor and employment law. Erin has been board-certified by the Florida Bar in Labor in Employment Law since 2006 and is also a Florida Supreme Court Circuit Civil Mediator. Since 2019, Erin has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Florida. She was selected by the Tampa Bay Business Journal as a 2018 BusinessWoman of the Year Honoree, and Johnson Jackson was named by the Tampa Bay Business Journal as the Best Place to Work for employers of its size.

Erin has served as President of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, President of the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers, and Chair of the Trial and Litigation Section for the Hillsborough County Bar Association. She is a member of the Board of Directors for BAMA and also serves on the Board for The Skills Center of Tampa Bay. She is a past Executive Board for the Glazer Children’s Museum. Erin was recently awarded the George C. Carr Memorial Award by the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, recognizing excellence in federal practice and distinguished service to the Federal Bar Association. Erin enjoys helping employers understand and navigate employment laws, defending them when they are wrongfully accused, and as a mediator helping parties reach a resolution.
