Thursday, November 21 Find out what challenges Manufacturing Companies encounter when hiring new Employees and how industry, education and government can work together to close the gap. Come and hear Clay Gambetti from Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance speak about the Hillsborough-Pinellas Manufacturing Skills Gap Analysis.
Across the country, the current economic recovery is leading manufacturers to increase production. With activity on the rise, the industry is beginning to face challenges in hiring qualified workers for critical positions. To address this need for qualified workers, the Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, WorkNet Pinellas, Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation, Pinellas County Economic Development, Tampa Bay Partnership and Florida High Tech Corridor partnered to produce the Hillsborough-Pinellas Manufacturing Workforce Analysis. Researchers asked local manufacturers a series of workforce related questions to understand their most critical unfilled positions today and the areas in which they anticipate hiring challenges in the future. The Analysis, which was published this past summer, quantifies the number of specific skill sets needed and offers recommendations to close those skill gaps. On November 21st we will hear a summary of the Analysis and discuss how industry, education, and government could work together to close the gap."
