Regional Stakeholders Announce Follow-Up Report to 2013 Study

TAMPA BAY, FL – To evaluate the current local manufacturing environment, CareerSource Tampa Bay in partnership CareerSource Pasco-Hernando, CareerSource Pinellas, Florida High Tech Corridor, Pasco County Economic Development Council, Pinellas County Economic Development, Tampa Bay Partnership, and Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation announced the publication of the 2016 Tampa Bay Manufacturing Workforce Analysis. The goal of the report was to understand local needs for skilled manufacturing employees and quantify difficult to fill manufacturing skill sets in Tampa Bay.

The first Hillsborough-Pinellas Manufacturing Skills Gap Analysis was conducted in 2013. As a follow up on the progress made to the key findings at that time, the economic and workforce development organizations re-evaluated the industry in 2016. A targeted survey was conducted from June 2016 through September 2016, which included over 450 manufacturing employers in the Tampa Bay area and examined 109 manufacturing skill sets across 16 job type categories and their corresponding experience levels and certifications.

The Tampa Bay Manufacturing Workforce Analysis was designed to be a comprehensive skill set demand analysis, so that community leaders and educational institutions can develop the qualified workers needed to support local industry. Based on the responses of the employers surveyed and local, state and national employment projection data opportunities in manufacturing are anticipated to continue to grow in the Tampa Bay region.

The full analysis can be viewed at www.tampabaygapanalysis.com.
