Attendees will hear from experts at TECO Peoples Gas, who will discuss natural gas distributed energy resources (DERs) and behind-the-meter power generation strategies that can help manufacturers improve energy reliability and reduce operating costs. The Director of the US Department of Energy's Onsite Energy Technical Assistance Partnership for the Southeast Region will provide an overview of the no-cost technical assistance services that are available to manufacturers to assess the technical and economic viability of onsite energy generation, particularly CHP, at their site.
The program will also feature a speaker from the University of Central Florida, who will present a real-world Combined Heat and Power (CHP) installation case study, highlighting the efficiency, sustainability, and resiliency benefits achieved through on-site energy generation. Additionally, e2 Companies will discuss the growing strain on the electrical grid and showcase innovative microgrid solutions designed to help manufacturers improve energy independence and business continuity.

Art Samberg is the Director of the US DOE Southeast Onsite Site Energy Technical Assistance Partnership, housed at the NC Clean Energy Technology Center at NC State University. At the NC Clean Tech Center, Art manages multiple projects, including for the US Department of Energy, USDA and the US EPA. One element that these programs share is that they all offer no-cost technical assistance on matters relating to either energy efficiency or deployment of onsite energy technologies as a means to increase a site’s energy resilience and to reduce energy costs. Prior to joining the NC Clean Tech Center, Art was private-sector consultant providing air permitting and compliance support to industrial and institutional facilities across the country. Art has a Master’s Degree in Meteorology from Rutgers University
